The 2014 Dolphin Awards gave a warm homecoming for Northern NSW folk duo Two Lions, awarding the pair for two songs from their upcoming, self-titled EP. The sentimental lead track Heading Home took out 'Song of the Year' and folk ballad Golden Chalice the 'Alternative/Indie' award. These award-winning tracks are a prelude to Chris and Kara's collection of warmhearted, antipodean folk music that is sure to resonate with Australian music lovers.
Two Lions' Chris and Kara Mallory are excited to be officially releasing their music for the first time, and following this week's award ceremony it's clear the industry agrees.
Heading Home uses the mythical language of folk to portray Chris and Kara's homeward journey to Mullumbimby through the stunning landscapes of Australia between the Kimberley, the Pilbera and the Nullarbour Plain. Not only is it a chronological recording of events, the compliment of Chris and Kara's vocals and clever instrumentation take you on an emotional, dream-like ride.
Two Lions are looking forward to an exciting year releasing and performing their new music. Though the official release of the full EP isn’t scheduled until next February, Chris and Kara have made two songs available: Heading Home is now available for streaming on SoundCloud and Belly of the Whale, released last month, is available for streaming and download via Triple J Unearthed.
