Dynamic indie-rock and rollers, The Royales have dropped a raw, punchy and to the point debut track from anticipated sophomore EP, Rewind. "What I Need" leaves you with a satisfying hook, yet begs the listener to wonder what magic might unfold in tracks yet to be released. The new single begins with a tantalizing groove and soon builds to a full bodied rock anthem - a true reflection of the energetic, passionate live show that has earned The Royales a loyal following in the Brisbane music scene.
The band are excited to announce an epic launch show to celebrate the new release with fans. On September 27, iconic Brisbane venue The Zoo will play host to the “What I Need” launch and although smaller in capacity than the likes of Big Day Out, front man Jacob Davis says he’ll use his festival experience to “make it the biggest show of the year!”
Since the release of their debut self-titled EP, The Royales have spent their time well, having successfully conquered an international tour of China followed up with performances at both the 2014 Big Day Out and Valley Fiesta music festivals as well as placing as national finalists in Commercial Radio’s First Break competition.
What I Need is lyrically diverse and emotive, the catchy melody will have you questioning what it really means to be satisfied in a 21st century society where disposable social media posts are king and the real value of every day life falls by the wayside. The single was recorded in Byron Bay’s Rocking Horse Studio with engineer Paul Pilsneniks (Silverchair, The Mars Volta, Alanis Morisette) and producer Daniel Spirovski (Light Of Love, Noah Slee) who worked with the band on their previous release.
This show is not to be missed!
