Unearthing talent like The McClymonts, Brooke Schubert and Mark O’Shea, Gympie Music Muster today announces 31 semi-finalists from all corners of the country in its 28th annual Talent Search for Australia’s next country music star.

Vying to join a long list of previous winners who’ve gone on to great success, the semi-finalists will battle it out on the Muster mainstage during the 2019 Gympie Music Muster with winners announced on the festival’s last day, 25 August.

An all expenses paid tour of Nashville USA, performances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and Gympie Music Muster, a full scholarship to CMAA’s The Academy and many more prizes are waiting for two talented musicians to claim this August.

Natalie Pearson, 2018 Talent Search Open category winner, said the competition “has been an amazing leg up in the industry providing more visibility and credibility for me as an artist.”

Since her winning performance, Natalie has taken Australian country music by storm claiming positions on CMC, KIX Country Radio, The Music Network and iTunes country charts with her latest releases.

“The competition is a great way for emerging artists to showcase their performance abilities and the prizes are so amazing for artist development. It’s every artist’s dream to head over to the Music City, and mine is coming true in just a few weeks thanks to the Gympie Muster & Soundmart Tours!”

Fostering talent in two categories - the Opens (Over 18s) and Juniors (12-17yrs) - Gympie Music Muster program coordinator, Emily Murphy said, “With more than 180 entries, the judges sure had their work cut out for them! The quality of young talent we’ve auditioned has been so incredible I’m sure we have more than one star in our midst here!

Offering a real pathway towards a sustainable career in the music industry, Miss Murphy said, “Our new partnerships with The Academy in Tamworth and various music festivals around the country ensure that Talent Search winners have the opportunity to really grow their audience and skills between winning and returning to the Muster family twelve months later.”

Now in its 38th year, the Gympie Music Muster takes place in the stunning Amamoor Creek State Forest, 22-25 August featuring Nashville sensation Chase Rice and US 'rockgrass' phenomenon Hayseed Dixie, Australian favourites Kasey Chambers, The McClymonts and James Blundell, R’n’B legend Renee Geyer, Tex Perkins and more.  Tickets on sale now via www.muster.com.au.

  • Over the past 37 years it has grown from a small celebration to an iconic event that defines the Gympie region.

  • Held from Thursday 22 – Sunday 25 August 2019 Gympie Music Muster is Australia’s largest charity festival, run by the community, for the community, raising in excess of $15 million for charity and community groups since it began.

  • The Muster is a fundraising initiative of the Apex Club of Gympie.  All surplus funds benefit the local community and designated charity partners.

  • Generations of Muster goers return annually to enjoy the friendly family atmosphere – there are no strangers at the Muster, only friends you haven’t met yet!

  • The Muster provides local, regional and national artists and songwriters an opportunity to perform in front of one of the largest outdoor audiences in regional Australia.

  •  The 2018 event has been measured to have contributed more than $6 million towards the Queensland economy.

  • The community is The Muster’s most valued resource with more than 15,000 volunteer hours given to the 2018 event.

  • The Muster is the quintessential Australian entertainment experience, bringing music and mate-ship together under one big open roof and offering a camping and leisure experience like no other. It celebrates the true spirit of country Australia and the strength and resilience of regional communities.

  • While contained in the picturesque Amamoor Creek State Forest in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, the event offers its patrons every luxury. Bars, Food Stalls, Baristas and five-star camping; there is no need to skimp on quality when patrons make their way to the Muster.

  • The event is family friendly (kids under 12 are admitted free) and focuses on providing a safe and non-threatening event.
