*** Embargoed Until 9am Wednesday 23 August ***

Australia's biggest busking festival, Buskers By The Creek has announced another 100 cracking performers to hit the shores of Currumbin Creek 14 and 15th October 2017.

Taking the roll call count to over 200 today are Byron Bay's busking legend, Juzzie Smith, popular multi-instrumentalist Tay Oskee, looping harpist ELSKA, the award-winning Lamplights' slide guitarist, Ash Perrow performing with friends as The Calling Brothers, talented Melbourne musician Joel James, 11-year-old crowd favourites, Valley Vibes and many many more.

Awarded Gold Coast and Queensland Event of the Year in just its second outing, Buskers By The Creek is a major local event making its mark on the national calendar attracting 24,000 people with stunts like Australia's first floating half-pipe and 300 weird, wacky and down right amazing entertainers.

"I started Buskers by the Creek four years ago to provide a grass-roots platform for the community to enjoy and appreciate all the different kinds of incredible talent that is out there, from musicians to sword-swallowers and living mermaids," said festival founder and director, Cindy Jensen.

"We keep entry free to shine a positive light on the true art of busking, where the performances are totally engaging because the people vote with their feet and gold coins.

"These one hundred artists today are going to blow your expectations out of the water!"

Artists already announced for this year include some of the region's most promising musicians including James Bennett, Van Larkins, Phil Barlow and Canadian folk rocker, Tennyson King, with the weird and wacky yet to be announced.

Returning for its fourth year this October, Buskers by the Creek is a free, family-friendly weekend changing the way we look at community events, "This community spirited festival is a great success story for the Gold Coast," said Councillor for Southern Gold Coast, Gail O'Neill.

Buskers By The Creek 2017 is proudly supported by the Gold Coast City Council and Connecting Southern Gold Coast and sponsored by Nightquarter, Gold Coast Graphic Design, Stick It Signs and Gold Coast Barges.

Joel James  is a Melbourne boy full of nothing but flair, drive and passion when it comes to his music. Easily recognised by his short size and Pom Pom Beanie, what started as a small Busking career has now grown into rotation on both the Hit Network and Gold Coasts 102.9 Hot Tomato. The Indie/Alternative artist started writing his debut EP “I’m a Fool” whilst busking the Melbourne streets. Although he still loves to perform on those foot paths, his career quickly progressed after launching his EP to a full room at Fitzroy’s ‘Workers Club’, proving to be nothing short of electrifying. The one man band danced around the stage playing his Guitars, a Bass, his Uke, Piano, synths and a 3 piece drum kit all in unison with his loop pedal. Key moments where Joel jumped into the crowd to shred his Guitar, performed tight Drum solo’s and a badass leap over his kit left the crowd buzzing.
