FIRST 100 ARTISTS ANNOUNCED FOR AUSTRALIA'S BIGGEST BUSKING EVENT / by Kylie Cobb

***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY 18 JULY***

Today, Australia's original, award-winning busking festival, Buskers By The Creek announces the first 100 musicians set to perform at the idyllic Currumbin creekside location on the Gold Coast, 14 and 15 October.

Attracting over 25,000 people last year with the country's first ever floating half-pipe, a 285-strong roll call of award-winning musicians, world-renowned contortionists and stunts galore, Buskers by the Creek is a must on the national event calendar.

Celebrating the true art of busking, this first of three lineup announcements boasts some of the region's most promising musicians including James Bennett, Van Larkins, Nina, Aine Tyrell, Phil Barlow, Nicole Brophy, Liv Heyer, Blue Skillet Rovers plus Canadian folk rocker, Tennyson King.

"Buskers by the Creek is one of the most exciting and freshest events in the Australian music calendar. It was a real eye opener for me and could very well be the launching pad for the next Australian superstar act," said 12 times Golden Guitar-winner, Adam Brand.

"Buskers by the Creek is about discovering something new. Uncovering special treasures you didn't know existed!" said event director, Cindy Jensen, "We've been scouring the nation for more than six months to bring you 300 of the best new busking talents, and we are stoked to announce these first 100 artists today."

"Today is about the musicians with our next announcement bringing you the weird, wacky and down right amazing entertainers who will dish up jaw-dropping tricks, daring world record attempts and more waterborne magic!" said Cindy.

Applications for performers are still open for a limited time with organisers urging buskers to apply quickly, as they will be closing sooner than expected due to an overwhelming response of quality acts.

Artists and entertainers can apply at www.buskersbythecreek.com.au/buskers.

Returning for its fourth year, Buskers by the Creek is a free, family-friendly event held at Winders Park 14 and 15 October 2017.

Buskers By The Creek 2017 is proudly supported by the Gold Coast City Council and Connecting Southern Gold Coast and sponsored by Nightquarter, The Kitchens, Gold Coast Graphic Design, The Neumann Group, Airlie Beach Festival of Music, Bluesfest, Blank GC, Scenestr, Love Street Studios and Kitty Kitty Bang Bang.

NICOLE BROPHY With natural onstage charisma, bangin' guitar skills and lush whiskey soaked vocals, we can't blame Kate Miller Heidke for coveting Byron Bay's Nicole Brophy for a few years! Nor Kasey Chambers for taking her along to play her last tour. Nor Rolling Stone Magazine for saying Nicole "has a voice possessing everything that is good about country singing, with the grunt and raunch of the great female rock tradition thrown in for good measure." Nicole Brophy is currently completing the finishing touches on her latest album recorded in a farmhouse in the Southern Highlands of NSW co-produced by Syd Green.    www.nicolebrophy.com
