A buzz of excitement surrounds the recent announcement of over forty bands in the lineup for undoubtedly one of the best value, boutique festivals on Australia's East Coast - the Mitchell Creek Rock N Blues Fest. Held over three days and nights (18-21st September) on a private 100 acre property in Noosa's glorious hinterland, festival goers revel in quality live music, small crowds and BYO. With a growing reputation for discovering your next favorite band with your new best friend, the festival is expected to sell out this year.
The full festival lineup was announced this month with a wealth of Australian talent including Caravana Sun, The Tommyhawks, Evol Walks and Cheap Fakes. Over 150 artists will perform over the weekend, with each band hand picked based on their musicianship, raw talent and performance value more so than how many fans and followers they have. An attribute much appreciated by Mitchell Creek's pioneering music lovers, along with the noticeable presence of talented women as well as guys:
The success of the Mitchell Creek Festival, on and off the ground, can be largely attributed to its word-of-mouth marketing and support by the local community (over half a million dollars has been put back into the community so far). "Year on year we're seeing familiar faces with bigger and bigger friendship groups camping and having a great time together," says Jimmy Budgen, Festival Director, "This year we even have one of our most enthusiastic patrons getting married at the festival! That's just how we roll - one big happy family, for one big happy weekend of exceptional music and good times."
Along with a quality lineup and capped capacity, Mitchell Creek Rock N Blues Fest hosts a brilliant weekend for all, featuring local food vendors, a licensed bar and VIP tent, kid-friendly areas, clean toilets and showers, free camping and BYO (bring your own) alcohol and food. Naturally, the festival is attracting a distinct group of people who prefer to enjoy their rock and blues music in a fun atmosphere where strangers are friends and your pockets aren't emptied.
As the full lineup hit the airwaves, organizers at the Mitchell Creek Rock N Blues Fest headquarters went into full-swing, preparing for a bigger, more popular festival than ever before. With early bird passes sold out and a handful of VIP passes left, festival lovers are encouraged to grab their tickets now to avoid disappointment.
